I was delighted to accompany Poppy Roberts and her mum, Emma, when they visited No 10 Downing Street for a Reception celebrating Community Champions across the UK.
Twelve year old Poppy has raised over £30,000 for local charities and good causes and is an ambassador for the charity Giddo's Gift which supports local teenagers and young people with cancer.
I first met Poppy in 2020 when she became an early Hidden Hero for her fundraising to provide food and bedding for the animals at the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay. She has also raised money for 3D Families, Good News for Romania and Anglesey Foodbank..
Poppy was welcomed by the Civil Societies Minister, Stuart Andrew, who was impressed that Poppy has also dedicated more than 600 hours of time volunteering to help support families living with disabilities.
Poppy is a phenomenal young lady and an inspiration to us all – she deserves national recognition for everything she has done here and overseas.
