More than £4100 has been raised to renovate the Holyhead Hotspurs’ clubhouse at a dinner sponsored by Ynys Môn
MP Virginia Crosbie.
More than 80 people were at Braids Bistro, Holyhead Golf Club on Friday for the fundraiser organised by the club’s
grant coordinator Sheila Owen.
Guests dined on a menu of Shepherd’s pie and apple crumble before an auction and raffle took place hosted by
Virginia.
Items up for grabs included a Celtic shirt, an AC Milan shirt and a day at Anglesey Pursuits.
Special guest was former Welsh professional football player and now coach Chris Evans.
“I am really pleased to help raise this substantial sum for the clubhouse that is used by many local community groups
and huge thanks to Sheila for all her work organising this successful event,” said Virginia.
“The generosity of the island was on show again during the raffle and auction and I would also like to thank Braids for
another wonderful dinner.
“I really enjoy these events that allow me to help such worthwhile groups and initiatives across our brilliant island.”
Sheila said: “We raised a stunning amount of £4109 through ticket sales through auction items, donations and raffles.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who supported us. The funds will go towards badly needed
renovations to our Clubhouse. Thank you.”
The event was Virginia’s 10th large fundraiser she has either organised or supported since her election in 2019.
So far, she has helped raise nearly £30,000 for local charities and community initiatives.
Previous fundraisers include: Cleft, Anglesey Riding for the Disabled, Anglesey Show, Anglesey Hawks Wheelchair
Basketball team, Holyhead Students, Amlwch Town Football Club, Môn SAR, SSAFA veterans and the Island Games
ladies football team.
Further fundraising events are planned.
