I had a fantastic time supporting Anglesey's businesses and organisations at the Royal Welsh Show this week.

Entries in the livestock and equine competitions travelled from across the UK to compete.

There really was something for everyone including forestry, horticulture, crafts, countryside sports, shopping, food and drink and entertainment as well as over 1,000 trade and exhibition stands

A huge thank you to Ynys Môn Farmer Peter Williams for looking after me so well.

As well as congratulating award winning stands from Bangor University and Helen, Gethin and Beca at Môn ar Lwy - Taste of Anglesey. I enjoyed hearing how businesses like Mona Dairy are supporting more local farmers and speaking to Farmers' Union of Wales and members of NFU Cymru to discuss the future of Welsh farming - the whole experience was one which made me very proud of all our islands fantastic organisations, charities and businesses.

I am proud to be sponsoring the Anglesey Agricultural Show on 9th and 10th of August and I look forward to seeing many of you there!

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
