Anglesey mining

Great to bring yet another Minister - the Minister of State at the Department for Business and Trade Nigel Huddleston MP around Anglesey.

Thank you to all those that looked after the Minister so well - especially Agra, the The Valley Hotel and Heather and her team at @Blueberries in Amlwch.

We visited Anglesey Mining Plc at their Parys Mountain site and met with the CEO, Jo Battershill.

Once operating, the mine is expected to employ 120 direct, full-time employees and create an additional 400 – 500 full time indirect jobs within the local community.

At full production, the mine would produce around 26,000t of metals critical to the energy transition that will enable the UK to meet its Net Zero goals.

The metals produced will include copper, zinc, lead and silver, which all have an important part to play in the decarbonisation of the environment. The site will also produce around 4,000oz of gold.

Diolch yn fawr Anglesey Mining for a great visit!

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
