Great to bring GE-Hitachi (David Powell VP UK and Craig Jones VP UK Corporate team) the North of the island to visit Wylfa.
As Chair of the APPG for SMRs - Small Modular Reactors - I lead the campaign for SMRs.
GE-Hitachi based in Wilmington, North Carolina - shared their vision for 16 BWRX-300 SMR reactors at Wylfa with the first by 2030.
GE-Hitachi have SMR programmes in Canada, US, Estonia and Poland - with Canada due to be up and running by 2028.
This is an ideal opportunity - given their technology is currently deployed in the US/Canada - to broaden operations to include the UK.
GE-Hitachi are looking to hear about their application to the UK Governments ยฃ120m FNEF (which was launched on Anglesey) and for nuclear to be designated green taxonomy like other countries.

Thank you to the Horizon team for the site tour and also the Stena Line team who also took us around the new Stena Line Eco Park in Holyhead where we discussed the significance of Anglesey becoming a Freeport to manufacturers like GE-Hitachi.
GE-Hitachi have big hopes for the Wylfa site and I look forward to welcoming them back to Anglesey again soon.
