Today I spoke in the debate on Apprentices
‘I would like to thank my HF for giving way and for bringing this important debate to Westminster Hall.
I want to express my support for the benefits of apprenticeships from the experience of my island constituency of Ynys Môn.
Many of my constituents have built careers from the apprenticeship route through local employers including Babcock Apprenticeships, Holyhead Marine and Mona Lifting Ltd.
Indeed just three months ago I worked with our local further education group – Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai – to hold Anglesey Skills Day.
We used the event to celebrate our apprentices and the companies that employ them and the feedback from all who took part has been incredibly positive.
Our apprentices loved to talk about their experiences and the businesses were thrilled to see them take centre stage.
Would my Honourable Friend agree that – when used properly - apprenticeships form a key part of getting young people into secure long term jobs, building their confidence and giving them the skills they need for life?’
