Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has joined with 11 islanders to take part in training on how to use a defibrillator.
The free two-hour course with tutor Ryan Cawsey from St John’s Ambulance Cymru taught everyone how to use the life-saving kit used to treat heart attacks.
The training was part of Virginia’s ongoing defibrillator campaign to document where the machines are located on Anglesey, source more of them for the island and give training to local people on how to use them.
The session took place at St Ffraid’s Church Hall, Trearddur Bay on Saturday. Virginia personally paid for the hall and refreshments so there was no cost to the taxpayer.
“The training was a fun way to learn about a serious subject and hopefully I will be able to save a life if I had to,” said Virginia.
“I am really pleased so many turned up to learn how to use a defibrillator and the response to my campaign has been very positive, including the leaflet I sent to homes on the island asking for defibrillator locations and if any community would like one.
“Many thanks to Ryan from St John’s. He was absolutely brilliant and I know everyone felt confident in using the technology by the end.”
Participants will receive a certificate by email on completion of the course.

Defibrillators are usually in brightly coloured boxes mounted outside shops, community centres and other buildings.
These pieces of first aid equipment are designed to be used by members of the public without training to restart someone’s heart if they have gone into cardiac arrest.
