Together is Better

It was a privilege to be asked by the Young Generation Network (YGN) to give the keynote speech at the Cardiff National Museum.

The theme for the days seminar was - Together is better: Collaboration for a nuclear future.

Anrhydedd oedd cael gwahoddiad gan Rwydwaith y Genhedlaeth Ifanc (YGN) i roi un o’r prif areithiau yn Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Caerdydd.

Thema seminar y diwrnod oedd - Gyda’n Gilydd yn Well: Cydweithio ar gyfer dyfodol niwclear.

Tynnais sylw at y ffaith fod yn rhaid i fy nhad adael Cymru i chwilio am waith a pha mor benderfynol ydw i o ddod â niwclear newydd i Wylfa er mwyn sicrhau nad oes rhaid i’n pobl ifanc adael eu cymunedau i chwilio am waith.

Y ffordd orau i ni amddiffyn yr Iaith Gymraeg a’n diwylliant yma ar Ynys Môn yw trwy gael swyddi o ansawdd da i bobl ifanc.

I highlighted how my dad had to leave Wales to find work and my determination to bring new nuclear to Wylfa to ensure our young people do not have to leave their communities in search of work.

The best way we can protect our Welsh language and culture here on Anglesey is with good quality jobs for local people.

In my speech I thanked all those that helped me to be a champion for nuclear - Mark Salisbury, Fiona Rayment, Tim Stone, Gwen Parry Jones, Stuart Law, John Idris Jones, Tom Greatrex, Tom Samson, Ivan Baldwin, Julia Pryke, Coryhn Parr and many more.

Big shout out to Saralynn Thomas YGN Chair, James O’Keeffe, YGN Vice-Chair and all those who made the event such a success.

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
