I am grateful to Sam Rowlands MS for raising the issue of the Menai Bridge closure in the Senedd yesterday, following the joint letter that myself and Natasha Asghar MS wrote directly to the First Minister Mark Drakeford.
Transport is of course a devolved area – however it is hugely positive to be able to work alongside my Conservatives colleagues in the Senedd to raise vital questions and hold the Welsh Labour Government to account.
Sam raised vital points regarding the lack of contingency plans, the threat of high winds to the Britannia Bridge and also why was there such a lack of action over concerns originally noted in 2019 – that came to a head in the chaos caused by Friday’s emergency closure.
