I supported Llangefni Tourism and Hospitality Jobs Fair

I supported a successful Tourism and Hospitality Jobs Fair held at Llangefni Jobcentre.

I made a short speech at the opening of the event and thanked the DWP organisers before going on to meet those looking for work and companies who attended.

More than 140 people came to it on Friday. Employers in attendance were: Halen Môn, Chartwells, Melin Llynon Mill, Greenwood Family Park, Tredici, Breeze Hill, Oyster Catcher, Môn CF, Pier House, Supertemps, Coleg Menai and others.

In addition, the Federation of Small Businesses had a stand.

Thank you to the brilliant Jobcentre team for a great event that successfully put those looking for work together with those who need staff.

We have a good job market on the island, especially in tourism and hospitality, now the warmer weather is around the corner but getting people together is key and this was very much achieved at this event

It was a pleasure to meet those looking for work or a change of career and to meet a wide range of local employers – many of them not for the first time!

Employer Adviser Anglesey Alwen Gardiner said: “It was a pleasure to organise a Tourism & Hospitality Jobs Fair with the support of Virginia and her Team.

“I was delighted by the number of Employers with vacancies, who agreed to attend and the number of jobseekers who showed an interest in attending. This event was extremely successful with more local people going into work.”

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
