I am delighted to finally be able to confirm that the community event to update local people on the Menai Bridge repairs and future plans will be held on Friday 22 March between 1-7pm.
I first asked for a community event months ago and I am so pleased that the team responsible for the bridge – UK Highways A55 Ltd – have worked with me to deliver it.
The afternoon will be an opportunity for local people to learn more about the repair work including how long the works are likely to take and what exactly is involved from the people responsible. There will be a 3D model of the bridge on show and an A5 bilingual handout summarising the works available.
The team will also be interested in hearing feedback on the need for a third Menai crossing and local views on the bicentenary celebrations for the bridge.
In the latest update on the bridge works, I can confirm that work is on schedule with the single lane on restriction on the bridge due to end in February 2025. The bridge is expected to fully reopen in September 2025 with the weight restriction removed.
