Ynys Môn MP Virginia Crosbie has announced the winner of her annual Christmas card competition with the design adorning mantelpieces across the country, including at Downing Street.

More than 50 children entered the competition again this year that was sponsored by 34 local island companies.

The winner was ten-year-old Alecia Hughes from Ysgol Llanfawr, who won with her design of a red dragon (draig goch), a Christmas tree and presents and Merry Christmas and Nadolig Llawen written on the card.

The two runners up were: Tyler Hughes, aged 9, from Ysgol Y Tywyn with his design of a Lighthouse with Christmas lights, ornaments and a Santa sleigh pulling a Nadolig Llawen banner and Graihagh Gwenllian Dawson, aged 8 from Ysgol Caergeiliog with her design of red dragon and a Christmassy outline of an Ynys Môn map. Their designs are also on the card.

“Many congratulations to Alecia for her fantastic design that is now printed and on the front of this year’s Christmas card,” said Virginia.

“It will be delivered to people across Ynys Môn and the Prime Minister and the Chancellor.

“Congratulations too to the runners up for their fab designs and thank you to all the children who entered this year.

Judging was really tough because the standard of designs was again so high. We have some very talented children on our island.
