Former Member of Parliament for Ynys Môn

I am dedicated to social mobility and empowering others – and securing more jobs for Anglesey is where I’ll start.

My father was  born in Wales but had to leave Wales to find work. I am determined that our young people have a future right here on Ynys Môn and that means good quality jobs.  As a maths teacher I am committed to ensuring young people have the same opportunities I enjoyed. I have a working class background and grammar school education. I was the first person in my family to stay at school beyond the age of 16. My grandfather was a miner for 47 years and my mother worked in a jam factory. Following a distinguished career at GlaxoWellcome where I worked on the production of Interferon, UBS where I was one of the youngest Directors in UBS history and HSBC where I won awards as a leading pharmaceutical analyst – I retrained as a teacher.

I live with my husband, our three children and our cocker spaniel Violet. We enjoy exploring and dog walks as a family. The outdoor life is important to us and we enjoy being part of a community – which is why we love living here on Anglesey.

I want everyone on Ynys Môn to have the same opportunities as I had to succeed in life. That’s why I’ll be your local champion for jobs, skilled employment and investment. I want our young people to aspire to a future here on the island. The next generation is key to keeping our communities together and the Welsh language alive. My goal is to be a voice for those that have no voice and to make tomorrow a better day for as many people as possible.

Rwy’n ymroddedig i symudedd cymdeithasol a grymuso eraill – a sicrhau mwy o swyddi i Ynys Môn yw lle byddaf yn cychwyn.

Fel athro mathemateg rwyf wedi ymrwymo i sicrhau bod pobl ifanc yn cael yr un cyfleoedd ag y gwnes i eu mwynhau. Mae gen i gefndir dosbarth gweithiol ac addysg ysgol ramadeg. Fi oedd y person cyntaf yn fy nheulu i aros yn yr ysgol ar ôl 16 oed. Roedd fy nhaid yn löwr am 47 mlynedd ac roedd fy mam yn gweithio mewn ffatri jam. Yn dilyn gyrfa ddisglair yn GlaxoWellcome lle bûm yn gweithio ar gynhyrchu Interferon, UBS lle roeddwn yn un o’r Cyfarwyddwyr ieuengaf yn hanes UBS a HSBC lle enillais wobrau fel dadansoddwr fferyllol blaenllaw – ailhyfforddais fel athro.

Rwy’n byw gyda fy ngŵr, ein tri phlentyn a’n cocker spaniel Violet. Fel teulu rydyn ni’n mwynhau archwilio a cherdded y ci. Mae’r bywyd awyr agored yn bwysig i ni ac rydyn ni’n mwynhau bod yn rhan o gymuned – a dyna pam rydyn ni’n caru byw yma ar Ynys Môn.

Rwyf eisio i bawb yn Ynys Môn gael yr un cyfleoedd ag y cefais i lwyddo mewn bywyd.. Dyna pam mai fi fydd eich hyrwyddwr lleol am swyddi, cyflogaeth fedrus a buddsoddiad. Rwyf am i’n pobl ifanc anelu at ddyfodol yma ar yr ynys. Mae’r genhedlaeth nesaf yn allweddol i gadw ein cymunedau gyda’i gilydd a’r Gymraeg yn fyw. Fy nod yw bod yn llais i’r rhai nad oes ganddynt lais a gwneud yfory yn ddiwrnod gwell i gynifer o bobl â phosibl.
