Ynys Môn Squash Club

As part of our 50 year celebrations Ynys Mon squash club were thrilled to welcome our Ynys Mon MP, Virginia Crosbie MP into our junior coaching session.

Virginia was able to show that her considerable racket skills, gained from being a keen tennis player, were also applicable to squash as she joined in with our junior players for a training session.

The Ynys Mon coaches, Shaun Sullivan and Paul Barrell put all the players through their paces with an energetic warm up, key footwork drills, target competitions, ball work and finally some dodgeball!

Head coach Shaun commented, "It was fantastic to see Virginia joining in tonight and having fun and a good workout with our junior players."

After the session Virginia was full of praise for the set up at Holyhead Leisure Centre and the provision for young players, "I've always been an active supporter of any sporting activity and to see the young players here every week getting fit and enjoying learning new skills is wonderful to see. I have really enjoyed participating today and Shaun and Paul's enthusiasm for the sport and their passion for developing Squash on Ynys Mon is clear to see."

We all hope that Virginia will be back to join in again soon!

Ynys Mon Squash Club have adults sessions every Monday from 7pm and the Junior club is every Wednesday from 4:30 and thanks to Anglesey council and Môn Actif is free of charge until September 14th!
