Virginia Crosbie at Valley surgery

Diolch yn fawr to all those who have been in touch with support following articles about me wearing a stab jacket to host surgeries with my constituents by the BBC, Wales Online, Nation Cymru and many others. You can find the articles linked below

It is unquestionable that the overwhelming majority of people across Anglesey are friendly, polite and wish me well, even if they do not agree with me politically.

People know I live on the island and that’s important. Just this weekend, I chatted with constituents in Asda and Aldi and then at my local pub the Vic in Holyhead listening to the brilliant Magee Brothers.

Sadly, it is the tiny majority we need to be wary of. In the tragic cases of the murders of both Jo Cox MP, who was stabbed and shot whilst campaigning in her home constituency and Sir David Amess MP, stabbed during a constituency surgery, it was just one person each time that caused so much heartache.

Whilst I have previously received death threats to my Holyhead office I have taken the decision that I will not be cowed by that tiny majority. Those who threaten me are reported to my brilliant local police who are quick to act and reassure myself and my staff.

I will continue to aim to be the best constituency MP I can be – shopping locally, supporting small businesses and attending events all over our island!
