Three weeks ago I met with businesses across Porthaethwy/Menai Bridge, Beaumaris and local areas affected by the sudden closure of the Menai Suspension Bridge.

Afterwards I wrote to Isle of Anglesey County Council and the Welsh Government Minister, Lee Waters MS/AS, to raise the concerns โ€“ and possible solutions โ€“ put forward by those businesses.

This morning I held a follow up meeting with my colleagues Sam Rowlands MS and Mark Isherwood MS.

We wanted to share the responses from Minister Waters and the Council and to find out whether there had been any improvement in local trade.

Businesses reported that the town centres remain quiet with footfall and income well below the norm for the Christmas season.

They raised a number of other views concerning parking, rates, traffic flow and more.

Sam, Mark and I will now write again to Minister Waters to push for more business support and an update on a realistic opening time table for the bridge.

I will hold a further meeting in January. If you would like to register for future meetings please do get in touch.
