I attended a briefing between local politicians and Welsh Government, highways staff regarding the closure of the Menai Bridge โ disappointingly the meeting was not attended by any Welsh Labour Ministers - which reinforced to many at the meeting the fact that Anglesey and North Wales is not a priority down in Cardiff.
Mynychais sesiwn friffio rhwng gwleidyddion lleol a staff priffyrdd Llywodraeth Cymru yn trafod cau Pont y Borth - er siom nid oedd yna unrhyw weinidogion Llafur Cymru yn y cyfarfod - a wnaeth atgyfnerthu i nifer yn y cyfarfod y ffaith nad yw Ynys Mรดn a Gogledd Cymru yn flaenoriaeth yng Nghaerdydd.
You can read further details about the meeting in the newspaper article linked in the comments below.
During the meeting along with my Welsh Conservative Senedd colleagues Natasha Asghar MS and Sam Rowlands - I stressed how the closure of the Menai Bridge has already had a real impact on residents and businesses on Ynys Mรดn and North Wales.
The issues with the Menai bridge first came to light ๐ฉ๐ฌ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ง๐จ ๐๐๐ค. Safety must come first - however a lack of action and a clear plan - lead to an emergency closure causing immense disruption. I will be pushing for compensation for local businesses and additional critical healthcare support on the island from the Welsh Government.
It is also vital that plans for a third Menai Bridge are accelerated given the new bridge could potentially take seven years to build.
Sylwyd ar y problemau gydaโr bont am y tro cyntaf ugain mlynedd yn รดl. Rhaid i ddiogelwch ddod yn gyntaf, fodd bynnag, mae diffyg gweithredu a chael cynllun clir wedi arwain at gauโr bont ar frys ac aflonyddwch aruthrol. Byddaf yn gwthio i gael iawndal i fusnesau lleol a chymorth gofal iechyd critigol ar yr Ynys gan Lywodraeth Cymru.
Mae hi hefyd yn hanfodol bod cynlluniau ar gyfer trydedd bont dros y Fenai yn cael eu cyflymu o ystyried y gallai pont newydd gymryd saith mlynedd iโw hadeiladu.
