Backing Liz Truss for PM

I am backing Liz Truss - out of the self interest of my constituents; Liz is committed to new nuclear at Wylfa, she is committed to Freeports or something even better and this means jobs and investment for Ynys Môn - and that is exactly what is needed here after decades of neglect.

I am extremely proud to be Welsh, British, and Conservative. I am backing Liz Truss at this leadership election because I know that she shares my pride in our party, our values, and our Union.

Despite having Welsh heritage, I spent most of my early life in England. This is because my Welsh father was forced to leave Wales in order to find work.

I am now extremely privileged to be back in Wales representing the people of Ynys Môn.

In this role I have one guiding mission - to ensure that people are no longer forced to leave Wales just to support a family and get on in life. And the Union is absolutely essential to that.

Creating a Freeport on Ynys Môn

I campaigned for over three years for Anglesey to have Freeport status and on 23 April 2023 I was delighted when the UK and Welsh Government’s announced that our bid to become a freeport was successful.

Ensure Ynys Môn is front and centre of government policy

For years Ynys Môn has been poorly represented in Westminster by our MPs.  Our island needs someone fighting its corner and making sure that the people in power know and understand our local issues and assets.  My fights for Wylfa and a Freeport are well documented but I have also been wor

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
