Healthcare here in Wales is devolved to the Welsh Labour Government.

Despite Ynys Mรดn being represented by five Members of the Senedd in Cardiff - over 25% of my postbag represents healthcare issues with concerns regarding access to GPs, hospitals, dentists and worries about ambulance waiting times.

In 2021, funding for the Welsh Government from the UK Government was increased to ยฃ18 billion.

The Welsh Government receives around ยฃ120 per person for every ยฃ100 per person of equivalent UK Government spending in England.

In Wales prescriptions are free. In England 89% of prescriptions are free - representing over-60s, those in receipt of benefits, the under-18s, those in education and those with certain medical conditions.

This new Bill would facilitate the clear printing of a drugs value on the items prescribed - helping to increase the awareness of the drugs costs.

I believe this is an important Bill - and although it would represent only England I would hope that the Welsh Government would adopt it too.

I supported this new Bill along with the MPs Craig Mackinlay, Julian Knight, Alicia Kearns, Dr Kieran Mullan, Ben Bradley, Greg Smith, Royston Smith, Sir Robert Goodwill, Matt Hancock, Mark Francois and Harriet Baldwin.

The Bill will be read for the second time on Friday 3rd February 2023.
