The Department for Work and Pensions - DWP has today announced funding for people with common mental health problems like stress, anxiety and depression to be given access to an employment adviser.

I lost my brother to suicide so World Mental Health Day is an emotional and deeply personal day for me.

That’s why I campaign for better mental health on Ynys Môn and why I was instrumental in getting 100 people trained in mental health first aid in our communities.

The day also allows people who are suffering the space and time to talk about their condition and for those who help them, the time to talk about their work.

Year-on-year more and more people feel able to talk and gain access to support and services that can help them. It is saving lives.

But demand increases every year too so we must continue to make the case for the funding our mental health deserves.

In this column I usually focus on the ‘bigger picture’ part of my role:   fighting to secure Anglesey Freeport in Westminster because I know how much our young people need the good quality, well paid jobs this will bring,  badgering Ministers, raising the profile of new nucl
